Melvoni
Brooklyn-born Melvoni is a 17-year-old rapper who's been making waves in the music world since his debut single "Beautiful Girls" in 2018. With powerful vocals, emotionally evocative instrumentals, and melodic rapping, Melvoni's music tackles the struggles of growing up fast in a high-pressure environment. He caught the attention of Epic Records in 2020 and released his debut EP Who TF Is Melvoni? that same year.
Born and raised in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, Melvoni was exposed to music from a young age. His older brother Tione, known as Lil Tjay, was already making a name for himself in the rap game when Melvoni started to take an interest in music. He began posting his songs online in 2018 and quickly gained a following with tracks like "Memories" and "Big Rocks" streaming in the millions.
Despite his success, Melvoni faced personal challenges that he channeled into his music. In 2018, he recorded the single "No More You" about a heartbreak he experienced at 15 years old. The track, which interpolates Kanye West's "Heartless," was a somber tale of a lost love and quickly gained traction online.
But Melvoni didn't let the heartbreak hold him back. Encouraged by his manager to make more upbeat songs, he released "No Man's Land" and "Big Rocks" in 2019. These tracks showcase Melvoni's unique blend of struggle-based rap storytelling and vocal prowess and have been streamed millions of times on Spotify and YouTube. His signing to Epic Records in 2020 and subsequent EP solidified his place in the music industry.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Melvoni continued to create and release new music, including the single "Get Money" featuring Tyla Yaweh and DDG and the EP Return to Sender in 2021. His newest track “C.O.M.B” just dropped so make sure to check that out. With a versatile style and passion for creating, Melvoni is definitely an artist to watch out for.
