Baby Keem
Baby Keem is a 19-year-old rapper and is a Las Vegas native. His name might sound familiar since his song Orange Soda has 9.1 million views on Youtube and 20.2 million plays on SoundCloud. This song blew up in 2 waves. The first wave was brought on by Kylie Jenner playing Keem’s song on her Snapchat, similar to how Nav’s Myself was featured on her Snapchat, which helped propel him to stardom. The second wave came about from TikTok, where many songs have started going viral. However, Baby Keem stands out because he isn’t a one-hit viral and has laid out the groundwork to blow up and have a lasting career. Buss Her Up is his second biggest song, with 1.37 million plays on SoundCloud. Even with all this success and numbers, Keem has stayed relatively lowkey on social media with only 152 thousand followers on Instagram with 4 pictures and 31.5 thousand followers on Twitter. Listening to Keem, you can tell where his influences come from. He raps over very bass-heavy beats meant to get you hyped up, and his cadence can be very Kendrick Lamar like and that is no accident. Baby Keem has both songwriting and production credits on Kendrick Lamar’s project Black Panther: The Album, and TDE members Jay Rock’s Redemption and Schoolboy Q’s Crash Talk. It’s also been reported that Keem is cousins with Kendrick himself, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Baby Keem is a gritty rapper who has fun with his bars that marry his beats well, and with his range, the sky is limit.
