Mike Dimes

Mike Dimes is a 21-year-old rapper from Central Texas.  With the TikTok viral hit "My Story," the rapper rose to fame in 2021. Shortly after, he kept the momentum going by releasing his first project, DLOG, which was quickly followed by his fantastic new album, In Dimes We Trust, which was released in March 2022. He's certainly one of rap's top young artists to look out for right now.

Although he names A$AP Rocky and Joey Badass as his main musical influences, Mike Dimes maintains that he's forging his own path, owing in part to his unique personal experiences. The 21-year-old artist was a military kid who traveled a lot, witnessing the life and culture of states throughout the country. This allowed him to experience so many different cultures, and you can hear it in his music today. It’s so diverse but at the same time, and this is what makes Dimes so special, anyone can listen to it and enjoy it. He has taken that cultural diversity and molded it into something that is enjoyable for anyone. Amazingly, in addition to his music career, he is presently enrolled in college as a business management major.

When asked how he got into rapping, Mike Dimes, surprisingly but also unsurprisingly, named poetry as his first stepping stone. He was a big Tupac fan in middle school, and once he discovered A$AP Rocky and Joey Bada$$, he knew rap was what he wanted to do. Alongside them, he also names 50 Cent, André 3000, Outkast, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott as other influences for his sound and style. Just by looking at this list of influences, you can see the diversity that I mentioned previously, and let’s be honest, that’s a pretty fire list of people to look up to. Dimes is certainly next up, and I promise you, you will be hearing him soon at the club or a frat party.
